Family home for friends

Nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac, in an expansive garden set against the mountain backdrop, this project for old friends entailed extensive alterations and extensions to an existing house. All living areas and bedrooms enjoy natural light and north-facing views on both levels, and every room is visually connected in diverse ways to the landscape. The house comprises three simple barn-style buildings linked by single-storey spaces. The home is inviting, comfortable and relaxed, the easy-living experience enhanced by the use of texture, soft colour, natural materials and subtle lighting. The garden is thoughtfully set out and beautifully sculpted to root the house into the site.
