Sun House
Located on the slopes of Table Mountain, the challenge lay in accommodating the brief on a steep, compact site, and in pursuing a contemporary architectural language within a more classical context. Founded on a heavy plinth containing the guest flatlet, garages and parking, the house opens to the north to allow city and bay views. The main lounge, dining room and study occupy the primary platform of the property, opening onto an entertainment patio, lawn and swimming pool; the kitchen, central to this floor, provides a strong link between the front and rear of the property, glazed to allow for light and appreciation of the garden from within. Bedrooms, all ensuite, are found on the top floor.
