Stonepine Pool

The brief was to design a new swimming pool and to formalise the landscape of an existing home located in the foreground of Table Mountain. The pool was sited away from the house, allowing for a more playful and organic form prompted by a number of site constraints – an existing stone pathway, an old stone wall, the copse of existing stone pine trees, the push and pull of the landscape and view below. Materials and colour speak to its context, grounding the pool in situ. Garden edges were planted to moderate scale from the existing tall hedging to lawn, with new feature trees planted in key positions. The collection of sculptures was placed along pathways or as focal points in places of pause.
